Young Adult Internship Program (YAIP) RFP *Deadline: December 15th
Pre-Proposal Conference—November 16th (get notes)
YAIP serves disconnected youth (16 to 24 years old) through short-term paid internships, placements in jobs, education, or advanced training and follow-up services. Anticipated annual funding is $4.6 million for up to 16 YAIP programs allowing for an annual per participant cost range of $3,200 to $3,800. The anticipated term of contracts will be for one year, from July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012, with an option to renew for up to two additional years and nine months. FATHERHOOD PROGRAM REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS *Deadline: January 10, 2011*Building on the success of a hallmark Fatherhood Initiative begun in 2002, the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) is seeking appropriately qualified organizations to operate Fatherhood Programs in New York City (City). Each Fatherhood Program will address the needs of non-custodial fathers aged 16 and over. There will be separate competitions for three specific groups: young fathers (16 to 24 years of age), fathers over 24 years of age, and fathers with prior involvement in the criminal justice system. HELP KEEP YOUNG PEOPLE SAFE AND OFF THE STREETS?DYCD is holding a series of borough-based Community Forums to discuss Mayor Bloomberg’s NYC Commission on LGBTQ Runaway and Homeless Youth and the Final Report, “All Our Children: Strategies to Prevent Homelessness, Strengthen Services and Build Support for LGBTQ Youth”. In conjunction with November as National Runaway Prevention Month, and in response to recommendations in the report, the Forums, co-sponsored by the NYC Community Action Board, will provide an opportunity for community members to discuss this important issue and to identify opportunities to contribute to improving the lives of vulnerable young people.

DYCD announces the launch of Pathfinder is a new career-building website for New Yorkers who work with and inspire youth. It's the place where New York's youth workers, trainers and employers connect online and share career opportunities. This website is funded by DYCD and The Wallace Foundation to provide a one-of-its kind free resource dedicated to helping after-school professionals grow in skills and career possibilities.

Other Fundraising/Grant Opportunities

Responsible Sports Community Grant program, awarding $ 2,500 to $ 5,000 to youth sports organizations. Deadline November 30th. http://www.responsiblesports.com/.

NFL Youth Football Fund Grassroots Program, awarding grants for redress the shortage of clean, safe, and accessible football fields in low-and moderate-income neighborhoods. Deadline December 15th. Website: http://www.nflyff.org/.
